Professional Development Placements – Teachers & Lecturers

The EBP manages, organises and supports the placements of teachers to business. Placements are organised for individual and/or groups of teachers.

Business placements are most beneficial when planned to reflect the personal and professional development needs of individual teachers and school / college improvement plans.

A planned placement provides scope for:

  • Personal & management development
  • Gathering data and resources to support teaching and learning
  • Gaining a valuable insight into best business practice
  • Updating on roles and responsibilities in the workplace
  • Increased understanding of business needs and requirements
  • Developing understanding of career opportunities
  • Updating business on developments in education

Workplace Visits – Students

The EBP works with schools to plan and organise business visits for groups of students. Visits are most beneficial when organised to provide a context that supports a programme of teaching and learning. They are particularly valuable in the 14 – 19 phase.

The EBP assists the teacher/lecturer to plan learning outcomes, identify a host business, check legal requirements and negotiate details of the planned visit with the business. Details are discussed and confirmed with the link teacher/lecturer and the host business.

Brokerage Service

This service is designed to help schools / colleges find a business contact to support a programme or activity. Typical requests include a guest speaker, support for a curriculum project and an adviser for a business simulation.

At the request of the school / college, the EBP will search its extensive database and make contact with the company to secure a positive response. With company agreement the EBP will supply the school / college with details of the business contact.
